In addition to traditional Chiropractic therapy, we have a strong background in Myofascial Release (soft tissue/muscle work), as well as injury specific therapy both for the surgical and nonsurgical patient. Whether you’re an athlete, weekend warrior or just a normal human being suffering from aches and pains, come in for a visit and let me help you get back to better health - the natural way.

Chiropractic Manipulation

Chiropractors use a wide variety of techniques, including specific area adjustments, general manipulations, low force and non-force maneuvers. An adjustment can be delivered gently by hand or with an instrument. An adjustment is just one of the treatment tools used in Chiropractic. Other options include therapeutic modalities, cryotherapy, rehabilitation and nutritional counseling.

The rapid stretch of the joint fibers reset the muscle spindles, thus relaxing the muscles. Specific joint adjustment may stimulate increased immune function. Research has shown that specific area manipulation provides relief to ear infections in children.

Chiropractic is a conservative form of healthcare that most people seek before opting for other forms of treatment such as surgery. In comparison to other treatment options, Chiropractic is one of the safest. Studies from around the world have proven that Chiropractic care is both safe and effective.

For Acute Low-Back Problems:

“For patients with acute low-back symptoms without radiculopathy, the scientific evidence suggests spinal manipulation is effective in reducing pain and perhaps speeding recovery within the first month of symptoms.” – Clinical Practice Guidelines, AHCPR (1994)

For Long-Term Low-Back Problems:

“There is strong evidence that manipulation is more effective than a placebo treatment for chronic low-back pain or than usual care by the general practitioner, bed rest, analgesics and massage.” – Spine, Van Tulder and Bouter et al. (1997)

Spinal Rehab/Physiotherapy

A Rehabilitation Program is used in the healing, treating and prevention of injuries. Its primary focus is on pain relief, injury recovery, and flexibility, the restoration of movement, ergonomics, fitness and education of the patient with the knowledge of self-rehabilitation.

The amount of time for a rehabilitation program varies according to the individual and their condition. Physical rehabilitation is beneficial to athletes, post-operative patients, patients involved in accidents, and arthritic patients.

Patients are provided with Home Exercise Programs (HEPs) so they may continue their care outside of the clinic. They are given detailed information and instructions on what stretches/exercises they can do to help improve there condition in the present and for the future.

If you have any question about the exercises you are currently doing or would like any modifications, please do not hesitate to ask your practitioner. That's what they are there for!

We also prescribe TENS electrical stimulation units for home use to incorporate to the treatment you do outside the clinic. Approved by many PPO insurance companies.

Acupuncture

The Chinese and Easterners have used acupuncture for about 3000 years to treat illnesses and to maintain good health. The Chinese explains that energy channels, called meridians run through the body nourishing the tissues. Blockage of these meridians can lead to energy or chi build up at a single point causing lack of energy to heal and nourish tissues and organs.

Needles at the acupuncture point can influence the meridians. Needles release the obstruction and allow the flow of energy to regulate. A western theory of needling, is that its causes the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, brain, and spinal cord. These chemicals will influence the release of other chemicals and hormones to aid the body in self-healing.

Acupuncture can be use to treat a wide variety of conditions, such as, backaches, headaches, chronic fatigue syndrome, digestive disorders, muscle pain, joint pain, and psychological problems. Many people continue to use acupuncture as a form of preventative medicine.

We work with some of the best therapists on the Peninsula and can give you a great recommendation to fit your needs!
